Just days before their wedding, Alyssa and Logan, a couple from Texas, stumbled upon an unexpected gift that would soon become the highlight of their special occasion. During a routine coffee run after hitting the gym, Logan noticed a dog trying to navigate across a dangerously busy street, its movement hindered by an apparent injury.
Concerned, Alyssa observed the dog’s painful limp and guessed he might have already been injured. When they approached, the frightened dog fled but was finally cornered behind a shopping center, giving the couple a chance to help him.
With their wedding just nine days away, Alyssa and Logan rushed the injured stray to a veterinarian, hoping he had a family looking for him. But their hopes were dashed as the dog had no microchip, no collar, and wasn’t neutered, hinting that he may have been abandoned in the hectic area where they found him.
Despite their own pre-wedding chaos, the couple posted his photos online, attempting to find his previous owner. Neighbors on the Next Door app recalled seeing the dog in the area for a few days, strengthening the notion that he was left on purpose.
Alyssa explained that the dog, whom they named Campbell, needed urgent surgery on his broken leg to avoid permanent damage to the joint. With the help of Cody’s Friends Rescue and a GoFundMe page, they raised the necessary funds for his $8,000 surgery—a cost they were willing to bear without hesitation.
@lyssaslizards Just tearing up over here seeing our boy’s healing journey over the last six months since we found him! 🥹 Campbell is truly the sweetest, most loving soul. After finding him with his front leg joint collapsing from being hit by a car, all we wanted was to see him run, play and fetch like every puppy should. And now? He would spend allllllll day playing fetch, wrestling, running and going on long walks if he could. 😍😂 We love our boy so much and needed him more than we ever knew! 💚 #rescuepup #rescuepuppy #rescuedog #labrescue #labhusky #labhuskymix #reptilekeeper ♬ Belong Together (Sped Up) – Mark Ambor
Alyssa and Logan felt an instant bond with Campbell, believing he was the dream dog they had always wanted. They managed to schedule his surgery and, with the help of Alyssa’s parents, they could focus on their wedding and honeymoon, knowing Campbell was in good hands.
Today, Campbell is thriving despite his fused joint and metal plate. He’s adjusted well and enjoys all the usual dog activities like running, playing, and fetching. For Alyssa and Logan, rescuing Campbell right before their wedding was the best gift they could have received, and now he’s a cherished member of their family, embodying the love and commitment they share.
